Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI): A New Rotary Commitment
Please join our next in-person meeting at 12.30 – 1.30 p.m. on Tuesday 26 July 2022, where Ms. Saowalak Rattanavich will speak on “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI): A New Rotary Commitment”.
Ms. Saowalak will discuss the rationale and best practices in applying DEI to strengthen Rotary’s future. She is a professor of education and on the graduate school board at Srinakharinwirot University in Bangkok. Her profession includes teaching literacy, research in language studies, non-profit organizations, coaching and lecturing.
Ms. Saowalak was RI Director from 2015-17 and is Empowering Girls Ambassador from 2021-23. She has been a Rotarian since 1990. For more than 15 years, she has served as a Rotary volunteer and training leader for the Lighthouse Literacy project in over 10 countries.
She has a Ph.D in Curriculum and Instruction as well as a MA (TESL) from the University of Kansas Lawrence. Also, she has a BA in English and French from Chulalongkorn University.
Ms. Saowalak received a research award from the National Research Council of Thailand in 1992, and a National Teacher Award of National Deans Council of Thailand in 2011. She is a recipient of the “Gold Prakieo Award”, Chulalongkorn University Emblem, from Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn in 2022.
