Journey Through Middle Eastern Turmoil, My Life’s Story

Please join our next meeting over Zoom (no in-person meeting) where Mr. Abdulsalam M. Khanjar, Peace Fellow of Class 30, will speak on “Journey Through Middle Eastern Turmoil, My Life’s Story”.

Mr Abdulsalam Khanjar is a Peace Fellow in Class 30 of the Rotary Peace Center program. He is a Syrian national from the Kurdish area in Northeast Syria. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree in the English language at the Damascus University, Khanjar returned to Northeast Syria to teach English at a private school.

After the conflict in Syria became more violent, Khanjar and his family moved to the Kurdistan region in Iraq as refugees in 2012. Since then, Khanjar has worked as an interpreter with Médecins Sans Frontières and the Norwegian Refugee Council. He enrolled in a distance learning program at the University of York, UK. He obtained his master’s degree in 2019 (“The Role of Local NGOs in Humanitarian Crises”).

He now works for Terre des Hommes Italy in Iraq and just completed Class 30 of the Rotary Peace Center.
